Kana Mail was born from a simple concern: the realization that many email platforms analyze private messages to train artificial intelligence systems and refine advertising profiles. I wanted certain conversations to remain truly private, so I built a secure, encrypted alternative.

As development progressed, I found myself reflecting on the broader implications of strong privacy tools. Encryption protects ordinary people from surveillance and data exploitation. At the same time, like any powerful technology, it can be misused for crime. Investigative commissions and communications like those referenced in the Epstein files would be unable to read or crack open messages protected by the layers built into this tool. I am also aware that corrupt government officials and bad actors could misuse such protection and avoid accountability.

Because of this, I am approaching the release of Kana Mail with care and seeking counsel from legal, ethical, and community voices. My goal is not to create secrecy for wrongdoing, but to restore dignity, privacy, and control to everyday communication. Kana Mail exists to protect people — not to shield harm.
